The poster was folded once horizontally and once vertically and there is paper loss and toning along the fold lines and at the cross fold; there surface smudges and abrasions, most noticeable in the upper right quarter of the poster; this rare WWII propaganda poster should display rather nicely once framed.
E. McKnight Kauffer designed this in New York in 1944 for the United Committee of South-Slavic Americans, working in the vocabulary that made his name: photomontage over flat geometry, a palette cut to red, black, and cream. A black arrow drives up and right, a red arrow down and left, and Tito's profile sits where they cross. A rare instance of a designer of Kauffer's stature working on material this politically specific.
