There are several very well restored tears running up from the bottom edge, up to 20" in length; restored edge and corner wear and small losses; some soft creasing in image; despite its defects, this wonderful Swiss art deco railroad travel poster should display beautifully once framed.
This poster for the Swiss Federal Railways shows a crimson electric locomotive hauling its train through the Gotthard valley beneath green slopes and snow peaks. Buzzi, a Ticino-born painter, worked in thick, almost impressionist color that sets his railway posters apart from the flatter graphic style of the period. This is the English-language edition made for the British and American markets, scarcer than the French and German versions. Printed by J. E. Wolfensberger, Zurich.
