The linen has been trimmed to the edges but does not appear to have been trimmed into them; some minor restoration bottom right corner area; some creases/cracks in and above the middle of the top yellow text; poster was folded twice horizontally but the fold lines are subtle; there appears to be some minor restoration on the right part of the upper fold line; some edge tears; some surface scratches/smudges/creases. The poster will display beautifully once framed.
Loupot's paired figures, a red customer and white waiter, each carrying a bottle, are reduced to pure geometric form against a near-black ground, the composition working as both advertisement and abstract graphic art. He developed and refined this image over many years, and it became one of the most recognized commercial images in France.
A serious piece for collectors of French advertising art and modernist graphic design.
