There is edge and corner wear, chipping, and small restored losses; scattered very well restored edge tears up to 3" in length; this very rare railroad travel poster should display very nicely once framed.

This German-language poster advertised the Southern Pacific railroad and steamship lines to European travelers. At the top, the famous Sunset Limited steams across a golden landscape. Below it, a central panel lists three routes from New York to San Francisco, Pullman sleeping cars, weekly steamers from New York to New Orleans, rail service to Mexico, and ocean connections from San Francisco through Honolulu to Japan, China and Australia. Around the panel are colorful vignettes of the trip: a drive-through giant redwood in California, observation and dining cars, Honolulu's beach, South Sea islands, Japan and China, plus an ocean liner at the bottom. It's a vivid piece of early 20th-century travel advertising for collectors of railroad, maritime and Americana memorabilia.
