The poster was folded as issued and there is fine surface paper loss along the fold lines and cross folds; there is some toning along the fold lines and near the edges; some surface smudges/toning; this great American WWII propaganda poster should display very nicely once framed.
Twenty-six emblems cover every volunteer role on the home front, from air raid wardens and fire watchers to messengers, nurses' aides, and the Civil Air Patrol, each reduced to a single symbol inside the CD triangle. The graphic vocabulary is remarkably modern for wartime government printing, and the sheet reads today as a piece of mid-century symbol design as much as a historical document.
