This silkscreen poster has some surface scratches/smudges/abrasions/small stains, which is typical of silkscreen posters that have been previously handled; there is a 4" wide vertical area of toning along the right side of the poster; there is a 5" horizontal scuff at the right edge about two thirds of the way down the poster; some toning to the poster; minor edge and corner wear and toning; notwithstanding its defects, this fantastic midcentury airline poster should display nicely once framed.
A Fijian dancer in traditional dress, blue military-style jacket with brass buttons, white sulu skirt, and arms extended mid-movement, is rendered in the same geometric fragmented style as the broader Qantas figurative series. The delicate white tapa cloth pattern behind the figure is a particularly nice touch, giving the neutral ground texture and cultural specificity. The muted sandy background sets this apart tonally from the teal and olive of the other destination posters.
