There is minor edge and corner wear as well as a thin line of discoloration along the edges of the poster caused when the poster was previously framed; this colorful poster should display very nicely once framed.

The image is Nichols Canyon (1980), Hockney's exuberant bird's-eye drive up from Hollywood, featuring a road that winds, the landscape that tilts and folds, a perspective cheerfully abandoned in favor of total sensation. As a poster it works particularly well: the painting's scale and density survive reduction, and the Met's spare typography below sits against it without competition.

Organized by LACMA and sponsored by AT&T, the 1988 retrospective was one of the landmark American museum shows of the decade.
