There is minor edge and corner wear and small tears; there are some surface scuffs/abrasions/creases; some print offsetting in above the bottom text, most noticeable in the bottom area of the anchor; this rare and stunning Chicago World's Fair poster should display beautifully once framed.
This poster is a deeply local piece with a fascinating backstory. Norddeutsche Lloyd promoted group travel packages to the 1934 Chicago World's Fair aboard their express steamers Bremen and Europa, which were two of the fastest and most celebrated ocean liners of the era. The composition is bold and graphic: a massive gold anchor dominates the frame, the Chicago skyline rendered in cool blues above it.
This sits at the intersection of three distinct collector categories, Chicago World's Fair ephemera, German ocean liner history, and 1930s transatlantic shipping. It and is an uncommon find in any of them. A strong piece with genuine local significance.
