There are very well restored corner needle holes and minor edge and corner wear and tiny tears; this beautiful midcentury airline travel poster with deep rich colors should display wonderfully once framed.
On October 4, 1958, British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) made history by launching the world’s first scheduled commercial jet service across the Atlantic between London Heathrow and New York Idlewild (JFK).
BOAC beat its fierce American rival, Pan American World Airways (Pan Am), by just three weeks. Pan Am had planned to inaugurate the route on October 26 using the new Boeing 707. The BOAC marketing blitz, including posters emphasizing "Supreme Jet Comfort" and swift travel times, was designed to capitalize on this historic victory over American aviation giants.
