This exceedingly rare poster was folded once horizontally and professional restoration has been done to address surface paper loss along fold line; some very minor margin wear, creasing, tiny tears; will display beautifully once framed.
A historically significant and visually striking piece, this poster depicts an Asian American soldier in combat. It almost certainly references the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the Japanese American unit that became the most decorated in U.S. Army history; at a time when Japanese Americans were simultaneously being interned at home. The tension embedded in that context makes this a genuinely complex historical document.
The bold two-color photographic design is direct and powerful. An important piece of WWII American history that belongs in serious collections of the period.
