The poster was folded once vertically and twice horizontally and restoration has been performed along the fold lines and cross folds to address loss; some creasing/cracking along the fold lines; some restored edge and corner wear and small losses; top corner needle holes; some stain spots in the top half of the poster; edges appear to be very slightly and somewhat unevenly trimmed; despite its defects, this extremely rare Walt Disney-illustrated poster should display well once framed.
A rare and genuinely fun piece of WWII home front history. During the war, Disney lent its studio's talents to the U.S. government's propaganda effort, and this is a fine example; a shifty, dollar-clutching grasshopper sneaking away from the factory, rendered in full Disney cartoon style. The message was aimed at wartime workers being urged to stay put rather than chase higher wages elsewhere.
Disney-produced government posters are scarce and collect across multiple categories such as WWII ephemera, Disney art, and American graphic history. The illustration quality is exactly what you'd expect from the studio, and the subject matter gives it a humor and lightness that most wartime posters lack.
