The poster was roughly folded once vertically, resulting in additional creasing on and around the fold line; restoration has been performed along fold line where there was surface paper loss; restored scattered edge and corner tears up to 1.5" in length; restored loss upper left corner and creasing in upper right corner; some edge and corner wear; ink stamp bottom right corner area that reads "CZECHOSLOVAK INFORMATION SERVICE." This powerful WWII propaganda poster should display very nicely once framed.
A powerful and graphically sophisticated piece of WWII Allied propaganda. A Czech soldier crawls forward under fire in bold gold and black against a deep blue ground, red wounds or flames visible on his uniform, a mass of troops carrying the Czechoslovak flag advancing below.
This poster was produced to rally the Czechoslovak forces fighting alongside the Allies following the Nazi occupation of their homeland in 1939. Posters directed at specific occupied nations' forces are considerably rarer than general Allied recruitment material, and the graphic quality here is well above average.
