The surface of the poster had varnish applied post-printing; there are scattered edge and corner tears and creasing; some creasing and surface scuffs in image; despite its defects, this fantastic French travel poster should display beautifully once framed.
A beautifully panoramic Pyrenean landscape featuring a winding mountain road dropping through a broad green valley toward snowcapped peaks, with a vintage open tourer crossing a stone bridge in the foreground and the Ariège river running alongside. The color work is warm and luminous, the sense of scale and depth genuinely impressive.
Roger Soubie was a prolific and accomplished French poster artist, and this is a fine example of his landscape work.
