There is some yellowing/toning consistent with age, most noticeable in the outer edge areas; there are some smudges and accretions along the left edge where the plate was removed from its binding; this fabulous poster should display beautifully once framed.
This plate is Mucha at his most characteristic. All the hallmarks of his style are on full display here: the flowing auburn hair, the floral crown of poppies and wheat, the sinuous decorative border, the dreamy female figure holding a glass. Printed by Champenois as part of the prestigious Les Maîtres de l'Affiche series, which reproduced the finest contemporary poster art in reduced format for collectors.
Mucha is among the most recognized names in poster art worldwide, and Bières de la Meuse is one of his most reproduced images. A beautiful example from a celebrated series.
