There is minor edge and corner wear, tears, creasing, crinkling, loss; four restored punch holes top margin and two restored punch holes in right margin; some creasing in image; some staining in the margins; poster should display beautifully once framed.

A charming and well-printed poster for the Alsatian spa town of Niederbronn les Bains, promoted here as a thermal and climatic resort of the first order. The Casino Municipal anchors the main scene, its elegant iron colonnade filled with well-dressed visitors, a medieval castle ruin tucked into an oval vignette in the lower left. The palette of blue, green, and warm ochre is characteristic of the best French regional railway poster work of the era.

Printed by Cornille & Serre, one of the finest Parisian lithographic houses, for the Alsace-Lorraine railway, a network with a particularly interesting history given the region's contested status between France and Germany. A lovely and uncommon subject.
