There are four registration punch holes, two in the top margin and two in the bottom; small chip on the top edge near the right corner; minor edge and corner wear and tiny tears; some surface scuffs/abrasions; this powerful motivational poster should display wonderfully once framed.
This striking industrial safety poster was published by Mather & Company of Chicago, Illinois, and illustrated by Robert Beebe. The text reads: "When you 'take a chance' the percentage is all against you. Nine times you get by, and the tenth time you lose a leg, or a hand, or an eye. Many times you lose on the first chance taken. Play Safe. Work Safe."
Mather & Company produced some of the most collectible American industrial motivational and safety posters of the early 20th century, prized today for their graphic boldness and social history. A powerful piece for collectors of Americana, labor history, or vintage graphic design.
