There is minor edge and corner wear and tears; some margin toning/staining; some restored creases in image; this wonderful airline travel poster should display beautifully once framed.
In this sophisticated piece of midcentury American graphic design, Pursell abstracts the Manhattan skyline into overlapping planes of color including teal, terracotta, grey, and blue, with streaks of light suggesting traffic below and illuminated windows dissolving into the haze above. It's closer to a modernist painting than a typical destination poster, and holds up extremely well as a purely graphic object.
One of the stronger American Airlines destination posters of the era, and a natural fit for collectors of New York imagery and 1950s American design.
